MARK Cooper does not think his side will be overawed this evening when Aston Villa bring their first-team squad to the County Ground.

The Town boss will be concentrating on preparing his team for the first game of the League One season against Bradford City, and expects his players to step up to the occasion tonight.

Cooper has hinted that the team that starts for Town could be the closest resemblance to the team that will trot out at the County Ground on Saturday, August 8, as he looks to settle on his best XI.

With that in mind, the County Ground boss will be looking for his team to focus on their own system and not get carried away with playing the likes of Gabby Agbonlahor and Jack Grealish.

“It won’t be difficult for us, because we will be playing against a Premiership team so our boys will get a lift from that,” said Cooper, who added that the system that Swindon will play next season will depend on the players that they bring in.

“It will be a good crowd and a lovely pitch, so we are looking forward to it.

“I felt for an hour (against Everton) we played really well. The difference is when they make their changes they bring top international players on and we’re bringing young lads on to give them a game.

“We have to concentrate on what we have to do. We know that Aston Villa will come and have a lot of the ball, because they are a Premiership team, but we have got to concentrate on our style of play and what we are trying to work towards, which is being ready for the first game of the season.

“It is important that we play and don’t worry about the score.

“We have got to go and play and try and do what we need to do for the first game of the season against Bradford.”
