REPRESENTATIVES of Town target Jordan Stewart say a proposed move to the County Ground is not dead despite the player failing to arrive in Wiltshire to discuss the move.

Town are seeking to strengthen their striking department following injuries to Jermaine Hylton and Jonathan Obika and have been trying to tie down a deal to land Glentoran forward Stewart.

Glens chairman Stephen Henderson told sources in Belfast on Monday that the striker was due to travel to England on Tuesday for further talks over his proposed move.

Town chairman Lee Power subsequently revealed that the 20-year-old was a no-show for their scheduled appointment.

However, in the latest twist in the saga, Stewart’s representatives say a deal could still be done to bring the Northern Irishman to the County Ground, with the player set to travel to Wiltshire once the details of the move are finalised.

Lee Mudd, of ACHIEVE football agency, said: “It’s in Swindon’s hands at the moment and we are just waiting for the go ahead.

“It’s my understanding that a fee has been agreed between the clubs and there’s no issue with personal terms so it’s up to the club to give us the green light and bring Jordan over to agree the deal.

“There was a hope Jordan could travel to Swindon on Tuesday but flights could not be organised in time.

“It’s my hope that the deal can be finalised and I don’t see any reason why it shouldn’t. But the ball is in Swindon’s court and we are awaiting their move.”
