SWINDON Town midfielder Yaser Kasim helped Iraq to 2-0 win over Chinese Taipei to give them a boost in their World Cup qualifying campaign.

Kasim played a full 90 minutes in the success which saw the visitors close the gap to Group F leaders Thailand to five points.

A goal from Dhurgham Ismael in the 19th minute gave Iraq a first half lead before captain Younis Mahmoud settled the match in the 85th minute.

Iraq now face group leaders Thailand in March, before playing their game in hand with Vietnam to decide the group.
