BARNSLEY manager Lee Johnson is relishing the opportunity to pit his wits against a Swindon Town side he describes as ‘beautiful’ yet ‘frustrating’.

The Tykes boss, who will have 20-year-old midfielder Jak McCourt, signed from Leicester City on Friday morning, in his squad for Barnsley’s trip to the County Ground today, is expecting a an intriguing clash against Town and believes that Swindon’s enterprising style of play makes for a unique challenge.

Johnson, who also declared his admiration for Town manager Luke Williams, thinks that games against Swindon carry the hallmarks of development football, in stark contrast to the usual hurly-burly of League One.

“Do you know what; I think he’s a great coach, this guy (Williams) – I really like him. I think he’s got a real big future in the game,” Johnson told BBC Radio Sheffield.

“Swindon play in this way that’s really as beautiful as it is frustrating, I could imagine, for the home fans.

“But we’ve always done alright, in fairness. We’ve always gone into Swindon games with a plan – a decent plan – and that’s what the players have got to do; administer the plan.

“We know that we are very dangerous. Even on Tuesday (a 1-0 win at Bradford City), when we weren’t great, I think we’ve had 16-odd shots and I think that this game, really, is one that suits us.

“It’s almost an Under 21-style game, rather than your Bradford, which is full of men.

“So this will be a game that will be tough in a completely different way to Bradford, but it’s a game where I think there’ll be more time for both teams to play football.

“It’ll be a good game, a good one to watch.”
