JERMAINE Hylton made an instant impact for Guiseley on Tuesday night and Swindon Town head coach Luke Williams has vowed that his club will be keeping a close eye on their newly loaned-out frontman.

The 23-year-old has been farmed out to the National League for three months, however, the West Yorkshire outfit claim Hylton has been loaned with a view to a permanent move.

The Town forward, whose current contract is up at the end of the season, was thrust straight into Guiseley’s starting line-up just two hours after his move from Swindon was announced and helped the Lions claim only their first win of the season with a goal and two assists in a 6-1 thumping of York City.

Despite Guiseley’s suggestion that Hylton may have played his last game for Town, County Ground chief Williams says that his club remain committed to monitoring the progress of the former Redditch United man.

“We really felt that he needed to go and get regular football,” Williams told the local media.

“He has been struggling to get on the pitch for us. The formation doesn’t suit him as much.

“He’s a tremendous talent and we will be keeping an eye on him to see how he is getting on.”

Hylton was snapped up in January 2015 after impressing at non-league Redditch but his transfer ended up landing Town with a £1,000 fine and a warning over their future conduct from the Football Association after admitting approaching the player before giving seven days’ formal written notice.

The Swindon man, who appeared as a finalist on Sky One reality television series Wayne Rooney’s Street Striker in 2009, has only scored one competitive goal in Town colours – the match-winner in a 1-0 victory over Peterborough United in April 2015 – and failed to find the net last season.

After featuring twice in the opening seven days of the season, Hylton’s only other appearance this term came in last month’s Checkatrade Trophy clash with Chelsea.

However, even a 37-minute delay caused by a floodlight failure couldn’t delay his dream Guiseley debut, with Hylton helping the Yorkshiremen to their first league victory since April 30.
