SWINDON Town Ladies boss Steve Robertson hopes that his players are walking tall after a thumping return to form on the road at Queens Park Rangers yesterday afternoon.

Town remedied a five-match losing streak in all competitions by romping to a 7-0 triumph in west London, with Robertson’s team, who started the day second-from-bottom in the FA Women’s Premier League Southern Division table, also clinching a vital victory over basement side QPR.

Samantha Hallsworth’s header – the first of her two goals – opened the floodgates, with Amy Watham helping herself to a hat-trick while new signing Sandy Abi-Elias and Ellie Maynard also got in on the act.

Town have moved up to eighth in the table following their second win of the campaign and while keen for his team not to get overconfident as a result of their most recent triumph, Robertson hopes that Sunday’s shellacking will serve as a springboard for more sparkling performances.

“In reality, we’ve gone away from home and scored seven goals, and we were worthy of doing that because of the way that we’ve performed,” said the Town manager.

“We’ve gone away and given them a proper going over. Their manager came over at the end and said: ‘you taught us a lesson. Well done. I hope you stay up’.

“The back four and goalkeeper were great and they allowed the people in front of them to play like they did.

“Obviously, we don’t want to get carried away. Our next match is against C & K Basildon and they’re another side that we’ve not played before so it’s another step into the unknown.

“The girls should be really happy and be able to walk around with their shoulders back but what we’ve got to do is try to produce this kind of performance again.

“Hopefully, we can keep another clean sheet and get another win.”
