A STOPPAGE-TIME equaliser from Charlton’s Patrick Bauer ensured Sheffield United dropped out of the automatic promotion spots in Sky Bet League One amid more protests at The Valley.

After the Addicks’ unpopular Belgian owner Roland Duchatelet this week appointed Karl Robinson, the eighth boss in his time at the club in fewer than three years, supporters threw toy taxis on to the pitch to halt play shortly after kick-off.

Mark Duffy gave the Blades a first-half lead but Bauer popped up late on to earn a 1-1 draw, with Robinson taking charge from today.

Table-topping Scunthorpe, unbeaten at Glanford Park since last December, were also held to a 1-1 draw as they dropped points at home to Oxford – Duane Holmes’ opener cancelled out by Phil Edwards – and they saw their advantage trimmed to four points as Bolton defeated Northampton 1-0 to go second thanks to another effort from Zach Clough.

Fifth-placed Rochdale were beaten 3-0 at Gillingham, for whom Frank Nouble, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and Mark Byrne were all on target in the second half.

Managerless MK Dons moved out of the bottom four, to be replaced by Coventry, following a 2-1 victory over the Midlands club. Ed Upson grabbed a brace, either side of a first-half equaliser by Coventry teenager Ben Stevenson, who was later sent off.

Bury, also without a boss, slipped to a 10th successive league defeat, despite leading 2-0 against Millwall through a James Vaughan brace as Shaun Williams scored from the spot. Calum Butcher levelled with five minutes to go and Aiden O’Brien grabbed the winner.

Struggling Chesterfield won at home for the first time in two months as Jay O’Shea netted twice and Ian Evatt also scored in a 3-2 victory over Bristol Rovers, who had led through Peter Hartley and pulled another back through Billy Bodin.

Northern Ireland international Conor McLaughlin scored for the third time this month to salvage a point for Fleetwood in a 2-2 draw at AFC Wimbledon.

Shrewsbury and Port Vale finished 0-0, as did Walsall and Southend, while Oldham versus Peterborough was called off because of a frozen pitch at SportsDirect.com Park.
