SWINDON Town will face Bristol Rovers, Wycombe Wanderers and an as-yet unnamed Category One club in the group stages of next season's Checkatrade Trophy competition.

The 16 groups for the 2017/18 tournament were revealed this morning, with all 48 League One and League Two clubs against split into northern and southern sections.

The 16 invited U21 Category One sudes will be added to the groups in a separate draw next Wendesday (July 12).

The group stage fixtures will also be confirmed next Wednesday, with invited U21 teams to play all group games away from home.

Town's Category One opponents will come from a list including Brighton & Hove Albion, Chelsea - whom they faced an beat in last year's group stages - Fulham, Reading, Southampton, Swansea City, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United.

Town lost twice to Rovers in last season's ill-fated League One campaign and reached the knockout stages of the Checkatrade Trophy, where they were ousted by League Two Luton Town.
