PORT Vale have signed 20-year-old midfielder Chris Regis on a short-term contract until the end of the season.

Regis has represented both Arsenal and Southampton at U18 level, in addition to a spell at fellow League Two side Colchester United, where he failed to make an appearance.

The midfielder made an instant impact at Vale Park, as he marked his debut with a goal in their 4-2 win over Crewe Alexandra in the Checkatrade Trophy on Tuesday night.

Valiant striker Tom Pope has been named League Two Player of the Month award for October, scoring six of the club’s eight goals during the month.

Luton Town boss Nathan Jones was awarded the League Two Manager of the Month award after his side collected 10 points from five games, which included a 7-1 win at home to Stevenage, as well as a 4-1 victory over promotion rivals Exeter City.

Chesterfield goalkeeper Tommy Lee has been forced to retire at the age of 31 following a prolonged shoulder injury.

The former Manchester United man missed the entire 2016-17 season with the injury, and has undergone surgery several times in search for a cure.

Lee, who had a two-year spell at Macclesfield, made more than 300 appearances for the Spireites since joining in 2008 - seven of them this term.

Newport County have been dealt a blow as they have been told they are unable to play new signing Paul Hayes until January 2018.

The 34-year-old joined the club in October after leaving Wycombe Wanderers, but due to registration regulations, he is unable to play until next year as the Football League confirmed the striker’s transfer cannot be processed until then.

Mansfield Town manager Steve Evans have rubbished rumours linking striker Danny Rose with a move away from the club.

The former Barnsley man had apparently caught the eye of both Notts County and Coventry City, but Staggs chief Evans described the rumours as ‘nonsense’.

The youngster has notched 10 times in 17 games so far this season, including an impressive scissor kick in their FA Cup opening round tie with Shaw Lane.

The 23-year-old put pen to paper on a two-year-deal when he joined the club from Bury in 2016.
