DAVE Byrne believes Ben Tozer's two-day trial at Premiership giants Everton could be just the tip of the iceberg for his County Ground youngsters, with a conveyor belt of teenage talent waiting in the wings for their big chance to shine, writes GARETH MOORHOUSE.

Town's caretaker boss and head of youth insists there are several saleable assets in his Academy and that Tozer's trial with the Toffees will only serve to raise the club's profile even further.

Tozer, 17, becomes the third player to test the water at Goodison Park after Lukas Jutkiewicz's summer switch and Peter Brezovan's trial earlier in the season.

The promising centre half was due back in Wiltshire late last night to prepare for the visit of Forest Green Rovers, but Byrne says a move to Merseyside could still be on the cards.

He said: "It's brilliant for Ben, absolutely fantastic.

"He comes back tonight - but he's done very well from the reports that have come back.

"We are now putting assets on the park, not only in the first team but at youth team level as well.

"With Lukas going, now Tozer and it's not only them but there's three of four more who are worth money so it's good times ahead."

Skipper Hasney Aljofree could partner Tozer in central defence for Saturday's FA Cup second clash with Forest Green Rovers and the former Plymouth man believes the Town teenager has a bright future ahead.

Aljofree said: "He got released from Plymouth Argyle which surprised me. I couldn't believe it to be honest.

"He's come here and shown what a player he is. He's a tall centre-half. He's not the strongest at the moment but in a couple of years time he could be a beast.

"He's got a great attitude and he's a lovely kids as well so I'm delighted for him.

"He's gone up to Everton and I hope he does well for them - but not too well though, I want him to come back!"
