CHRISTIAN Roberts is dreaming of finally cherishing some golden FA Cup moments - but not before helping Town quietly progress to the latter stages of the world's greatest club competition.

The Welshman admits a trip to Arsenal's Emirates Stadium would be his ultimate FA Cup prize but insists Town should be aiming for a couple more rounds yet before drawing the Premiership big boys'.

Roberts returns from a month on the sidelines with a knee injury for tomorrow's third round tie with League Two Barnet, encouraging fans and players alike to believe in miracles.

Town's winger is yet to enjoy any memorable cup moments in his 10-year professional career but admits each year the belief is there that this year could be the year'.

He said: "The FA Cup is a special cup. We have a tricky game on Saturday because Barnet are doing well in the league and they have some decent players.

"But the run we have had and the form our players are in at the moment could come at a nice time for us.

"The one memory I have of the FA Cup is playing at Harrogate Railway for Bristol City at 11am on a Sunday.

"The pitch was unbelievable and we went to look at it on the Saturday and it got worse overnight. It was dreadful.

"But we did a professional job that day. They are the memories I have got.

"Hopefully we can have a better run this year.

"Hopefully we can get through a couple more rounds and get a big bug somewhere down the line."

Roberts has yet to progress past the third round of the competition but is hoping come 5pm tomorrow he can at last look forward to the fourth round draw.

"As a footballer the day you stop dreaming is the day you may as well retire", he said.

"Because if you have not got dreams and ambitions I don't see the point in playing the game personally.

"I would love to play against Arsenal. The likes of Chelsea, United, Liverpool would be great but for me the way Arsenal play their football is unbelievable.

"I have gone back to Cardiff City before and it would be probably nice to go back to Bristol City. Obviously these games are nice competitive games.

"Having said that I would take a couple more wins and a couple more performances and then hopefully it would be a big one.

"It would be nice to get that big team in the quarter-final, semi-finals or even the final - why not?"

Knee surgery has seen Roberts sidelined since the second round win against Forest Green Rovers but he is hoping his problems are now behind him He said: "I truly can't say I went into games holding back on purpose.

"It was affecting my performance though and that is why I had to call it a day.

"I just have to maintain it now. It will be something I have to look after through my whole career now."
