NOT many footballers get the chance to appear in an FA Cup semi-final but, after doing it once, Ady Williams knows more than most to always expect the unexpected.

Town's caretaker boss walked out for Wolves at Villa Park in a semi-final against Arsenal back in 1998 and, despite a 1-0 defeat, admits the memories will live for him forever.

Ahead of tomorrow's third round tie at home to Barnet, Williams knows any similar heroics from Town are unlikely but is quick to point to the likes of Chesterfield and Wycombe as proof dreams can come true.

He said: "No-one said Chesterfield were going to get to the semi-final, or Wycombe.

"These things do happen and it is not beyond your wildest dreams that these things can happen.

"If you get the luck of the draw, the Chesterfields and Wycombes can inspire everyone else.

"Realistically our focus is to get through to the fourth round and take it from there. If we get through the fourth round then we get another home tie who knows - we all can start dreaming.

"I am sure there are many examples. Every season a lower division side tends to get to the later stages and it would be great if we could do that."

Christopher Wreh's first half strike ended any dreams of a final for Williams, as Arsenal went on lift the cup, but Williams believes a good cup run lifts a whole club.

"Arsenal at Villa Park was like a home game," he said. "It was amazing, family and friends were there.

"There are lovely memories and it would be nice to get some of them back whether it is playing or coaching.

"It gave everyone at Wolves a boost at the time and I think there is always a buzz about the place when a cup run is going on.

"The atmosphere and the whole FA Cup thing is special. I am sure the fans are up for it as well. We might have to be patient but the be all and end all is being in the frame."

Barnet visit the County Ground just below mid-table in League Two, with just three away wins all season, but Williams knows they can't be underestimated.

He said: "We would take a win now and worry about the performance later. It is an ideal chance for both clubs.

"Neither side is realistically expecting to win the FA Cup but it is another rung up the ladder to draw one of the big guns and have a day out and a financial reward.

"It is a massive game because we are hot favourites all of a sudden. We all wanted an Arsenal, United or Chelsea in the third round but it would be much sweeter if we did it in the fourth round.

"You can't take things for granted. I am expecting us to win though, Budgie is expecting us to win. Anything else would be a poor result.

"I am fairly confident our name will be in the hat for the fourth round, without being blasé about it."
