AN IMPATIENT Barry Corr has every faith he can still have a huge impact on Town's season - and is even refusing to rule out helping the Robins to achieve the near impossible.

The giant striker is hoping to end his latest six-week shoulder injury nightmare with a return at Brighton on Saturday and admits absence only makes his desire stronger.

With an eight-point gap between themselves and League One's top six any late play-off surge would be nothing short of miraculous but, after so long on the sidelines, Corr is up for the challenge.

With back problems also hindering him this campaign, and the last, Corr has only made eight starts but, with five goals to his name, he insists he can be a force to be reckoned with in League One.

He said: "It would be great if we could make a real push for the play-offs, maybe we have left it a little late because there are not too many games left, but if we can try and win all our games left then you never know what will happen.

"If I play games between now and the end of the season I will definitely be more confident about the future.

"Forgetting our hope for the play-offs, a good run-in will put us in a good position to start next season.

"There is a young team here and the manager is building something and hopefully we can push on next season as well."

Town's new-found creative flair that wowed the County Ground on Saturday left a frustrated Barry Corr rubbing his hands in eager anticipation.

While Town only picked up a point in their much-improved display against Carlisle last weekend, Corr's eyes were widening with every chance that was being created.

Winger Anthony McNamee was in sparkling form, along with the creative likes of Michael Timlin and Jon-Paul McGovern, and Corr cannot wait to be thrown back into the firing line.

He said: "I think it is the perfect time to be coming back. I saw the boys against Carlisle and I thought it was a fantastic attacking performance.

"It was exactly the kind of game every striker wants to be involved in. The wingers were putting crosses in and in games like that you always believe you can score a goal."

While confident he has seen the end of his latest shoulder injury, the Town striker knows he still has a battle on his hands as he looks to secure a starting slot again.

Blair Sturrock, Simon Cox, Moses Ashikodi and Billy Paynter will have their own thoughts on striking selection but for Corr just being back in contention is something to relish.

"The whole season has been really frustrating but all I can do is get myself back fit and make a real impact on the first team," said Corr.

"I have done a pre-season all over again. I feel as fit as I have been all season.

"I have worked hard all season and hopefully I have put myself in the situation if I do get in the team I will take my chance."
