PATRICK Kanyuka is set to become the latest of Town's walking wounded to be ruled out for the season as Maurice Malpas' selection options become increasingly limited.

The giant defender has not featured since picking up a groin injury against Leeds at the start of March with Malpas revealing a setback in training has left his campaign on the brink.

With Blair Sturrock (arm), Christian Roberts (knee) and Barry Corr (shoulder) already definitely out for the remainder of the campaign, Kanyuka's latest blow will leave Malpas a selection headache.

Skipper Hasney Aljofree will start a two-match ban on Saturday leaving either left back Jamie Vincent or youngster Sean Morrison as the only available replacements.

Malpas, pictured, said: "The back four will have to change again next week.

"That is part and parcel of the game and we will have to see who is available and get on with it.

"Patrick is still well off. He had a hard two or three days training but we had to back off a little bit and I would doubt if he will play again this season, never mind next Saturday."

Kanyuka arrived at the County Ground from Queen's Park Rangers at the end of January but has only featured three times due to injury.

A head injury on his debut at Luton kept him out initially and upon his return, after an impressive showing at Oldham, he broke down early against Leeds.

Malpas said: "He has got a groin problem.

"Our idea was to bring him in get his fitness levels up and hopefully give him a few games before the end of the season.

"We played him against Luton and he got a big cut and then he played and got injured.

"So we have not really had any opportunity to get his fitness levels up.

"Now he is chasing his tail for the end of the season but will he be fit enough for the end of the season? I just don't think so."
