SWINDON Town will once again go searching for Wembley glory in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy having been drawn away at Newport in the opening round.

Last season the Robins were cruelly knocked out on penalties by Peterborough in the southern area final and were unlucky not to have been awarded a game-changing penalty in the second leg.

Now with a trip to South Wales as the first step on the road Mark Cooper is insistent his side will be approaching the knock-out competition as seriously as they did last season.

“But for a terrible refereeing decision last year we would have been at Wembley,” he said.

“So we got close last year and were upset we didn’t get there and want to try and get there again.

“Newport is a local-ish derby isn’t it? It’s another ground for us, and a very difficult test for us to play down there.

“Justin Edinburgh has done brilliant down there and got them out of the Conference so it will be a tough game.”

Town travel to South Wales for the fixture on the week beginning September 1.

Little off topic, haven't seen anything in the Adver, but I may have missed it tickets for the Brighton game on 26th August (1 week today) are on sale Adults £12, concessions £10 and juniors £5. season ticket seats will be held until Monday

That is very good value and no reason why we shouldn't get a good turnout, come on everyone, spread the word and let's make it a decent crowd and help the club with some much needed revenue.

And a minus one for that comment so far, bloody hell you can't win! Totally agree, very good value if true, would've expect it to be about £15. Another incentive to travel down on a Tuesday night.

1984, I was going to ask the question if someone knew what the prices were, but having got a little bit of stick a few weeks ago from DKO for not researching things for myself, I checked this on the Swindon FC site, Definitely these are the correct prices for the game, I got some thumbs down last week when I suggested £15 would be a decent price, so not surprised someone gave me a minus, guess they won't be going then. I think Brighton may bring a few with them. If enough people get to know how low the price is I would hope we can get an 8k crowd. Can't understand why the Adver haven't run an article on it, probably still the best source if you don't listen to the BBC.
