The Motorola Foundation has announced it is to give a £15,000 grant to the children's charity Kidscape.

It will fund a wide range of anti-bullying and child protection work around the UK.

Motorola, which employs about 1,000 people in Swindon, made Kidscape its official UK charity for two years from 2004 to 2006.

The money raised by Motorola staff during this time enabled a great deal of work to be done to raise awareness of bullying in schools and the effects it can have on the children and their parents.

This is the second consecutive year that the Motorola Foundation has provided a grant to the charity.

The Motorola Foundation grants are being used to provide training sessions around UK schools, local youth clubs and other community centres to teach children and professionals working with children how best to recognise and help victims of bullying.

The funding is also supporting the cost of running Kidscape's helpline for parents of bullied children and for Kidscape to run their innovative ZAP sessions, which provide bullied children with practical strategies for dealing with their bullies.

"We are absolutely thrilled to have received a second year of support from the Motorola Foundation" said Nikki Kerr, Kidscape's projects manager.

"The contribution from the Motorola Foundation will enable us to continue helping thousands of families across the country deal with what can be an extremely upsetting and difficult time for all concerned."
