About Melinda

SWINDON'S favourite model, mum and TV presenter Melinda Messenger has had a fantastic career since she first found fame on a poster for a double glazing firm.

Here you can read past and present news stories from the Advertisers as we chart Melinda's rise to star status.

Before modelling Melinda worked as a stewardess for Britannia Airlines. In 1996 she underwent a £3,000 breast enlargement increasing her bra size from a C to DD cup and this had a big affect on her career.

She modelled in a poster campaign for Glevum windows - a local double glazing firm - wearing only underwear with the slogan "Class Behind Glass". The posters became hot property in Wiltshire and kept disappearing from bus shelters. After several complaints the posters were banned.
However, the story was picked up by the Daily Star who booked Melinda for a photo session and she featured in a centre spread in Tuesday, January 28, 1997. The same day she was signed up by agent Yvonne Paul, who's previous clients included models such as Sam Fox.It was a busy day - the Sun also contacted her and photographed her for Wednesday's front page.

More promotional work flooded in and this was soon followed by an appearance on Channel 4's Eurotrash as a roving reporter - the beginning of her TV career. Soon after she became a regular presenter on Sky's 'Live Six' show and since then she hasn't looked back.

After presenting the Channel 5 Jack Doherty show she was given a chat show of her own called Melinda's Big Night In.

Melinda became a regular host for the UK version of Fort Boyard, an adventure game show co-hosted by Leslie Grantham (former Dirty Den from Eastenders) and Geoffrey Bayldon (from the 70s show Catweazel). The show was set on a remote Napoleonic fortress off the coast of North West France called Fort Boyard.

In October 2000 Melinda Messenger hosted a show for parents and parents-to-be for Carlton TV called Baby Baby, where she chatted to partners about their thoughts on fatherhood and how they prepared for the birth of their children.

Mel is married to the love of her life Wayne Roberts and the couple have two boys, Morgan and Flynn Jefferson, plus a daughter called Evie.

Sadly, Fort Boyard was eventually axed two weeks after the birth of Flynn in March 2002.
