I welcome with great relief the pledge by the three main parties that Lydiard Park will not be sold.
I also note, however, and with great suspicion, what has NOT been said by our apparently indignant Tory councillors.
Could we please have a simple statement from them that Lydiard, and of course, all our green spaces, will never be leased on a short or long term basis and that control and day to day administration will remain in council hands?
I worry how people who have their hands on local power for such a short time can potentially wreak such irrevocable damage on the town. Much has already been squirrelled quietly through the back door. They are essentially temporary caretakers but seem to think they have the right to dispose of the family silver from under our noses.
