I honestly thought that our Swindon Advertiser was different from the sensationalistic national rags, but it seems I was wrong. It must have been struggling for headline on Monday, February 24 to feature that £17,000 was spent last year on bottled water by the council.
The full story on page 5 revealed this was not only bottled water but included tea, coffee and refreshments, only for visitors. Not an unreasonable figure when realising the number welcomed to the council offices.
Please don’t highlight a half truth to make a more interesting headline, when the whole story isn’t worth a fraction of a column on a minor page – you are better than that.
