The oligarchy of eurocrats who plot or plan the expansion of the project for a United States of Europe (their words) have had their beady eye on the Ukraine for membership for some time, but their howls of foul play being levelled at Russia after a referendum in the Crimea is amusing in the extreme.

We have seen that the EU oligarchs don’t approve of the result s of the referendum unless their outcome suits the grand plan of the project for more centralised powers for Brussels. For example: the France referendum on the EU treaty (constitution).

In Crimea the popular outcome favoured more union with Russia. What we have with these events is 19th-century competition between two power blocks, EU and Russia.

Personally, I prefer closer ties with Russia for the UK than with the half baked federalists of the EU.
