How right H Lang was in the excellent letter (SA August 28) in sounding a ‘warning cry’ concerning the ‘deliberate creeping privatisation’ of our NHS, and also highlighting the fact that things could be set to get a whole lot worse if TTIP ‘The Transatlantic trade and investment partnership’ between the US and the EU is ever allowed to happen.

As he so rightly pointed out, if this deal is agreed the UK government may find itself being sued for billions of pounds if it tries to reverse the privatisation measures.

This week we had the ‘Darlington mums march’ to Westminster which was spontaneously supported by unexpectedly large crowds on the way, as many people are witnessing the creeping privatisation leading the demise of their NHS. The plans for TTIP have been kept under wraps by Cameron’s coalition government as they are hoping that Joe public is not going to have time to oppose the measures which will ultimately lead to the loss of our NHS.

We have lost free education which was Americanised/Privatised by the Blair New Labour Government and then exacerbated by Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg clearly under the instructions, of Cameron’s Tories, and so without doubt the NHS is being lined up for similar treatment, and as the time old saying goes, ‘when it’s gone it’s gone’.

More alarmingly still, I came across an article this week that has also seemingly conveniently been ignored by our ‘national media’ which referred to a ‘NHS private health scandal’ which referred to Cameron’s government having brought in Vanguard Health a private company to clear a backlog of people waiting for cataract operations at the Musgrove park hospital, which resulted in 31 people seeking legal action against the NHS and the private company because they had suffered loss of sight, blurred vision, pain and swelling, due to botched operations. The article is available to read at: http://rt.com/uk/180628-nhs-private-health-scandal/ and should surely should prove to be a ‘wakeup call’ for every one of us that hold our NHS in esteem as being the envy of the world.

Having watched the Scottish independence debate the other day I found it most poignant when SNP leader Alex Salmond questioned ex labour chancellor Alistair Darling about the creeping privatisation of the NHS, which incidentally started under Blair’s Labour government, and has been accelerated by the Current Cameron led coalition. Alex Salmond surely hit the nail squarely on the head when he mooted that a ‘yes vote’ for Scottish independence would allow the Scottish people to have more control over their part of the NHS and thus be able to ditch what looks to be ‘inevitable further plans’ to privatise it.
