ign up for FABruary and join the fight against meningitis.

International charity, Meningitis Research Foundation (MRF) is appealing to the public to support their new fundraising initiative ‘FABruary’ and join them in the fight against meningitis and septicaemia in 2015.

Meningitis and septicaemia affect around 3,200 people across the UK each year, babies in the first year of life are most vulnerable, with it killing more UK children under the age of five than any other infectious disease.

As many as one in 10 of those affected will die and a third of survivors will be left with after-effects some as serious as brain damage, amputations, blindness and hearing loss.

Mike Taylor, head of fundraising, said: “We’ve come up with five fabulous events to hold during February to raise funds for Meningitis Research Foundation: l Danceathon: Let your hair down and dance the night away.

l Fabulous Friday: Why have a dress down day at work when you could dress up?

l Pamper evening: Set aside some quality time for you and your friends to get pampered and feel rejuvenated.

l Swishing: What could be more fabulous than updating your wardrobe while having fun with friends?

l FABruary evening: Host your own fabulous evening – cocktail party, karaoke sing along or a casino night.

Whichever way you choose to support MRF, your donation will make a huge difference to the work we do.

We rely on voluntary donations to fund our vital work into the prevention, detection and treatment of meningitis and septicaemia, so please sign up for FABruary and join the fight against these terrible diseases which can change lives forever.”
