REGARDING Steve Thompson’s response to my letter about squatters, I only wish I could be led up the garden path more often, maybe by someone female, attractive, honest, caring. Actually my wife Carole fits the bill nicely!

I respect the comments made by Steve, as we all learn as life goes by. I do believe though those properties which belong to someone else should not be invaded by all and sundry, no matter what the politics are.

I see people claiming to be free spirits wanting to protect our landscapes who protest by climbing the very trees they want to protect, destroying branches and leaving rubbish all over the place. They seem to have a similar mindset to certain types of squatter.

I see the politics of having affordable housing on newly-built estates whereby some of the properties are soon devalued by the very fact that others seem to think they do not need to take a pride in their affordable property. Not all the same, thank goodness.

It is those types of people I condemn.

My previous letter about being a Christian brought some comments by people with their own views. Good to see, but my main subject was about a Christian business not wanting to supply a product to certain people. Shopkeepers, I believe, have this option to make a product unavailable without giving a reason, as long as it is not classed as discrimination.

That is maybe where the B&B owners and the bakery fell short!

Pat Norman recently gave views on the Christian subject and I totally respect those. As I said before, I am an informal Christian, not religious at all but I have my own way of being good.

I do believe though, in “an eye for an eye”. You harm anyone I love, I don’t forgive – and you take the consequences!

Many people will disagree with that. It's water off of a duck’s back though.
