GOOD to see Coun Mallinson again missing the point entirely when it comes to all things Labour.

But then it's easy to do such a thing when political conviction is not your strong point.

One thing that always strikes me about Coun Mallinson is the short-sighted nature with which he attacks both our local MPs and also the Labour Government.

Coun Mallinson should realise that local authorities have been given ample powers (not just within utilising our judicial system) to tackle a broad spectrum of many aspects of ASB.

Thus, it is the council's decision over what powers they feel appropriate to use and, in the case of Swindon, it appears to be very little.

However, Coun Mallinson's attack on the Labour party is in keeping with the general view of this town's Tory party. If we were to believe them, apparently this Labour Government has funded absolutely none of the improvements to our town since 1997.

For myself, and I am sure many others, I would rather hear a council stop saying what central government has or has not done.

Maybe if this were to happen our local MPs could work more effectively with an extremely dictatorial Tory council.

C HEAVENS.
