SOME months ago I wrote to say that the best way to avoid the worst of the recession was to leave the EU and form our own economic policies. Tied to the EU will be of no advantage.

Proof that we are unable to do what is truly needed to get out of trouble comes with the EU refusing to allow cuts in VAT of below 15 per cent, thus keeping spending low and making it difficult for Gordon Brown to do what is required.

A UKIP Government would actually abolish VAT, slash council tax by around 40 per cent, remove the lowest paid, those earning less than £9,000 pa, from tax altogether and the results would be that the average income taxpayer will have well over £20 a week extra in their pockets.

Those currently earning £9,000 pa are paying around £1,106 income tax alone. Add this to all the other reductions possible by leaving the EU and the average family of four will see their overall cost of living reduced by around £3,000 pa.

What are you going to do at the next election, genuine tax cuts, compiled by the likes of Professor of Economics Tim Congdon, internationally renowned economics expert, or the current round of failure and over-taxing from the other parties? It's your choice at the ballot box.
