I WISH F E Sharpe well with the petition but I will not be signing it myself.
The Royal Mail threat comes, not from this Labour administration (the threat would be as bad under the Tories) but directly from the EU rules on competition. These have allowed other nations, notably Holland and Germany, to cream off the most profitable parts of the postal service, leaving Royal Mail with the rest.
In the long term the only way to stop the rot is to leave the EU, something UKIP alone amongst the moderate parties, wishes to do.
Our puppet Minister Gordon Brown has his hands tied by EU rules and even if every person, even every minister, in Britain signed that petition nothing would change. The only way is to vote for change at the 2009 EU elections and the next General Election when ever that might be.
