THIS is the first time in almost 50 years of reading the Adver that I have felt the need to respond to a letter, this one being the letter from the ever-complaining Mrs Packer who over the years has had a gripe at just about everything.

Her letter about the GWH really annoyed me. We as a family have had many dealings with the hospital as both in and out patients and one member of the family has been there for over six weeks receiving only the best of care. We go up to help her at lunch and dinner times and the food is very good, looks nice, smells nice and she says it is really good.

Does Mrs Packer expect them to provide home cooking or silver service for the hundreds of patients all with different requirements - perhaps she should go private. As for her complaint about the bathrooms, does she not realise that dips and slopes in showers which cater for many vulnerable people would be a safety hazard. As for teas and coffees I have always found that the server if asked will get it how you like it. Myself and many others I am sure have great respect for all aspects of the GWH. No organisation of that size can be expected to get everything right all the time.

Stop knocking the GWH and get a life Mrs P.
