AS a regular frequenter of Old Town’s public houses and restaurants, I feel aggrieved to write to you concerning the decline to one of Swindon’s oldest areas.
It is astonishing how such an historic and popular part of Swindon has deteriorated.
Many of the shops are either empty, have their windows boarded up or are covered with graffiti. I feel the council has spent too much time and money in the regeneration of the town centre to even notice what has happened to Old Town.
I feel sorry for the businesses struggling against the odds to survive and I hope that the council wake up and stop a once thriving area becoming a run down slum.
