ONE of your readers recently wrote about the factories and record players made by the Garrard Engineering Group factories worldwide. Shame on you sir, you failed to mention the famous Garrard chiming clocks that were tested in a small workshop at 28 Marlborough Road. At one time in the 50s, as Hector Slade said we made the Rolls Royce of clocks in this factory. If this job is going to be done quicker but will not be as accurate.

You will still keep doing it the old way to Mr Sid Pinniger I think his name was even if the machine operator (Flo) I seem to remember her name was sits by the machine for about an hour and a half each day and does nothing. One of the misnomers of the peace work system I suppose. Anybody got a Westminster chiming clock they don’t want - Garrard of course.
