MAY I through the letters page thank some of the supporters (I use that word loosely) who ruined my day out at Wembley.

I took my wife and granddaughter to the match hopefully to see our town’s team come away victorious. I have no doubt that we will read pages of thoughts on why that did not happen, however that is not the point of this letter.

I was unfortunate to buy seats in row nine behind the Swindon goal. The Neanderthals in rows one to eight, directly in front of us, refused to sit down in an ‘all seater’ stadium. I walk with a stick and cannot stand for long periods. When politely requested to sit down, these so-called supporters replied with a torrent of abuse and the instruction for me to stand up if I wanted to see the match. This would have not been possible. So thanks to these morons I could have stayed at home to watch the match on TV and saved a few quid. I actually ended up watching the game on the big screen at the other end of the pitch because I could not see the grass at Wembley (I presume there was some there).

Also I did not expect my wife and granddaughter to have to listen to these foul-mouthed specimens of humanity throughout the match. I can be as rude as anyone, when necessary, but there are times and places for everything. This was not one of them with families present.

A few of those so-called supporters even tried to start a fight amongst themselves after the final whistle. They obviously had not got the bottle to try it with the Millwall supporters.

This was meant to be a fun day, a family day out, a day to watch our home team play at this country’s national stadium.

It makes me wonder, as a season ticket holder at STFC, how many of these people actually go to home games as there was definitely one or two more people at Wembley than ever turn up at the County Ground. If these are the people that I and my family were unfortunate to encounter manage to read this letter (or get someone to read it for them) please do all the loyal supporters a favour and stay away, you are not welcome and give the town and STFC a bad name.
