I AGREE with Mr Fitchett, I was also an ex-Serviceman of 38 years and like him, fought for my King, Queen and country, I fought in the Malay jungle with the gurkha’s in 1949, Korea 1951, Borneo in 1952, two tours in Northern Ireland, Kenya with the Mau-Mau, Suez and all the other hotspots.
All this so that H G Smith has a right to say what he likes.
Come and stand with us in Wootton Bassett at a repatriation, these lads on their last journey home, and feel the pride in the crowd. The reporters from the Adver stand with us old timers, sporting our medals of which I have 11 campaign medals and am proud to wear them for these lads. They are not just for November 11, but to show how we feel to have fought for our monarch and show our respect for these chaps.
