NOW that Christmas is over and plenty of young people had bikes as a present, taking to the roads and cycle paths. May I through your paper stress the importance of the cycle helmet?
As a cyclist I was amazed at how many people cycle without a helmet, and that goes for some keen riders as well. Several of my best cycling friends have experienced cycling accidents without wearing helmets.
So as 2011 kicks off it’s the parents chance to encourage and set an example of wearing that helmet. I know sometimes they feel and may look silly, but would you rather have a serious head injury?
