A FEW months ago David Cameron led a British delegation of businessmen to India to try and drum up more trade with that fast developing country. Likewise President Obama of the US also visited India and talked of expansion of trade between their two great nations.

Since then India has announced a huge increase in its defence spending. Who do you think received the order for the billions of dollars worth of aircraft and other military hardware? Russia and France!

The International Monetary Fund’s forecast for the coming year is for China to grow by 10.5 per cent, India by 9.7 per cent, Brazil 7.5 and Russia four per cent. Together these countries have a population approaching three billion, together they take seven per cent of our exports, the same as the Republic of Ireland population, 4.5 million.

Think about it.
