IT is with absolute sadness that we hear that our wonderful mayor, Rex Barnett has developed cancer. Rex is such an amazing person and one wonders why this has to happen to him and his family. I pay tribute to the work in the community he has done over the years and we must be grateful that he was able to perform his duties as our mayor.
It has been a pleasure to follow his year and enjoy seeing Rex and Sandra so obviously enjoying their commitments. I hope his treatment is helpful and that we will see more of his smiles. I am sure I speak for many people in Swindon that wish him well, and yes we will be praying for him and his family. I hope he knows that we are all out here and will offer our support if he needs it.
