SWINDON Think Tank met on October 14 at Cavendish Square Library, Park South, to discuss the topic of fly-tipping.
The Swindon Think Tank believes that fly-tipping is partly made worse by the uncertain system of collecting large items from people’s homes, and also the cost of collecting three large items is currently £25, with a reduction made on this for Swindon Card holders.
It was felt that £25 was a bit high for some people and so encouraged fly-tipping along with the uncertainty about which day the council men were calling.
It was also felt that fly-tipping could be reduced if there was more flexibility about medium sized items that could perhaps be taken along with the wheelie bin collections.
