Legacy of dad on show at Lydiard House
It was a great honour for us to read the report on Lydiard House museum reopening (SA, August 4).
Our late father Roy hung the wallpaper in the picture shown. He did a lot of painting and decorating at Lydiard House.
The paper was hung in the 1980s at a cost of £120 per roll.
His work was featured in the SA at the time he was hanging the paper - we still have the report. Likewise it was featured on regional television and was shown in the magazine Traditional Interior Decoration.
So while our dad is no longer with us, his work at Lydiard House can be admired and spoken about for years to come.

PCC candidates should have been checked
I would have thought that the returning officer who organises and is responsible for the police and crime commissioner election process would have checked that the candidates were legitimate persons for the post.
It just doesn't seem to make sense that any Tom Dick or Harry can enter, subject only to sufficient backers and their own warranty.

Online GP appointment booking not so convenient
The not so local CCG is reported to have said “GP practices are currently under a lot of pressure.” (SA, August 9)
I am sure that is true, but I can’t remember a time in the past decade when that claim has not been made.
The CCG suggest that to help GP practices it would be useful if patients used online appointment booking services which they suggest are a convenient way to contact your GP. If only that were the case.
Today (August 9) I tried to book an appointment through the online system and despite asking for a date between 24th of this month and the 7th September, there are no dates available.
So much for the tart advice to use the online appointment booking services.
The CCG is an organisation truly not fit for purpose and is no longer capable of providing the service levels which meet the needs and expectations of the patients they are meant to serve.
