A Swindon nurse, Lynette Corengia, is arranging a fun day of song in aid of charity this summer.
She is hoping to attract local choirs to perform at the fun day in the Old Town Bowl on Sunday, July 12 in aid of the Open Door charity, which helps support people with learning difficulties.
Lynette already sings in the Great Western Hospital Choir and is in the process of joining the Kentwood Show Choir.
"I have been truly bitten by the singing bug,'' said Lynette.
"I have got the fantastic Lady of Choirs, Sheila Harrod, to compere the day. She just happens to be patron of Open Door and she will bring along the wonderful Kentwood Choir.''
The Fun Day of Song will be a first for Swindon and Lynette's aim is to bring all local choirs together. So far joining the GW and Kentwood choirs are The Song Birds, The Big Sing Thing, Everybody Sing, Cirencester Male Voice Choir, The Blue Belles, Glee Club, Pewsey Belles, Swindon Community Choir, U3A, Tanwood, Uplands Choir, Sophie Haynes CHoir and the Open Door Choir themselves.
"I have a daughter who attends Open Door and this year it lost its funding so I wanted to do something for the centre,'' said Lynette.
The Fun Day of Song will run from 2pm to 8pm and there will be cream teas on sale and an evening barbecue.
Any choir who wants to perform on the day should call 01793 531597. - Flicky Harrison
