Move over Daredevil, because The Punisher may just be getting his own show.
Reports say Netflix hopes to release a new Marvel series every six months, and The Punisher could be top of their list.
Chief Content Officer of Netflix, Ted Sarandos acknowledged the possibility of a spin-off on the Daredevil villain, played by Fury’s Jon Bernthal. He will appear in season 2 of Daredevil.
“That’s the beauty of the Marvel universe,” Sarandos said.
And the Marvel magic doesn’t end there as Jessica Jones, starring Breaking Bad’s Krysten Ritter, will debut by the end of 2015, the streaming service confirmed at the Television Critics Association summer meeting in California.
Jessica Jones is based on the comic book Alias about a former superhero who decides to relaunch her career as a private investigator.
Krysten will also join forces with Daredevil star Charlie Cox in crossover series Defenders, featuring Jessica, Daredevil, Iron Fist and Luke Cage.
Defenders will launch after each superhero has been introduced with its own first season. Relative newcomer Erryn Arkin is tipped to play Iron Fist and The Good Wife’s Mike Colter has been cast as Luke Cage.
