London, Paris and Spain, just some of the fashion weeks held. With models too skinny to be normal and clothes that are weird enough to come from outer space, why would anyone in the age range of 11 to 18 buy the clothes?

They are not old enough to earn a living and as the clothes that have been exhibited are going to be very expensive when they go on sale, students will have no chance of being able to buy them.

This means that their hopes may have been set high and this realisation of the price will bring them out of the clouds and crashing back down to earth.

Also whenever we read magazines or watch the news and see celebrities, they are never wearing anything that we see shown down the catwalk.

Teenagers are more likely to take inspiration from their favourite celebrity for outfits than a skinny model who they are more likely to take inspiration of dieting from.

If teenagers have celebrity idols then they will try to copy parts or even their whole outfits because they know that their idol is fashionable.

A lot of teenage fashion magazines break down an outfit that a celebrity has been seen out wearing and suggest items of clothing that are similar but affordable for a teenager who may not have lots of money. This means that they can still look fashionable but haven’t had to spend a fortune to obtain those clothes.

This means that where do these clothes actually get worn? All the people that teenagers see wear high street clothes including them and I don’t think that they, especially their parents, are prepared to splash out on a £400 hat.

So why do we have fashion weeks? Some will say they are pointless as when do we ever see these clothes outside of the catwalk?

Some will say that this fashion is what everyone takes influence from such as the designers of clothes that go into Top Shop and Hollister. And some will say that the clothes are beautiful. That’s just the way it is.
