EVERYTHING is in place for construction to begin on the site of the former Swindon College, as Ashfield Land announce another addition to the complex.

The Coal Grill and Bar will now join Nando’s, Prezzo’s and Ask in taking up leases at the £50m Regent Circus development, where the frames of the buildings were put up this week.

The restaurant chain already has sites in Basingstoke, Sheffield, Bristol, Exeter and Wimbledon, and will be housed alongside Morrisons and Cineworld cinema complex.

Andrew Fisher, managing director of Ashfield Land, said: “Coal Grill & Bar is another very welcome addition to the excellent range of restaurants.

“More pieces of the jigsaw are falling into place and we will soon see the transformation of this part of Swindon town centre. We are in negotiations for the two remaining units and kiosk and we hope to make announcements in the near future.”

John Gater, managing director of Coal Grill & Bar, said: “We’re very excited to have secured a site in Regent Circus. The Coal concept works well in quality cinema and shopping related environments and we are confident that Regent Circus has the right ingredients to make the restaurant a success.”

Deliveries are now being taken at the site of new steel works ahead of the frame for the building being brought off the ground.
