A RESTAURANT and bar in Corsham has gone from strength to strength since opening at the end of November.

Jack's Restaurant and Bar in Corsham aims to bring a new kind of dining experience to the town.

Set in beautiful parkland in Hartham Park, the restaurant uses seasonal home-grown vegetables along with game and fresh fish.

The menu is changed to reflect what is available and in season. Typical fare includes foie gras pt, goats' cheese, mussels, pork belly, oxtail and crab linguine. The duck is fast becoming the signature dish - a whole roast duck is served in a dish surrounded by red cabbage and potato. Guests are invited to rip off as much as they like of the duck and serve themselves.

The interior of Jack's itself is elegant and refined but with a relaxed and informal atmosphere. It has leather sofas, oak flooring, and opulent pictures on the walls along with a funky bar with blue lights. It even has its very own Georgian dining room with a warm red interior and period fittings.

Friendly staff aim to look after the guests in an attentive but not overpowering way. Bernice Reed, manager of Jack's, said: "It has been going extremely well and we have been getting very good feedback.

"We want out staff to be attentive but not formal - one person described them as shadows', everything is done for you but they are not in your face all the time.

"We wanted the food to go back to basics with a homely, organic feel."

The restaurant can seat 32 people at a time but there are plans to expand to be able to seat up to 60 people.
