SPACE has been opened up to students and families in North Swindon this week with a telescopes roadshow never before seen in any UK school.

The Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) and its roadshow entitled Seeing the Universe in all its Light, is more accustomed to presentation stands at the House of Commons or the Welsh Assembly.

Deputy headteacher at Isambard Community School, Stephen Leigh, exploited one or two connections with creative workshop Artejano, who assist STFC, and pulled the roadshow into the school this week.

“We had just been discussing the roadshow and thought how fantastic it would look in schools,” he said.

“We wanted to inspire the students about science. It is a subject which can be very school driven and they need to see the other aspects of science as well as what links to GCSE.”
