HUNDREDS of campaigners are set to turn out at a mass protest tonight against a proposed biomass plant.
The campaigners will gather at the forecourt of the Civic Offices to show their united opposition to plans to build a plant to produce animal bedding and energy at the former SquareD factory.
Under the proposals submitted by Pure Green, the company will produce around 50,000 tonnes of animal bedding annually using two chimneys up to 30 metres high.
Tonight, reporter EMMA LIDIARD will be at the meeting when a further 700 signatures will be presented to mayor Nick Marting, to add to the 1,700 that have already been handed over.
