MORE than 4,500 people have registered interest in a collective switching scheme, which Swindon Council hopes will save residents money on energy bills.
The big six gas and electricity providers have all announced price increases but the initiative run by ichoosr aims to get people a better deal. To register interest, visit www.swindon.gov.uk/energyswitch.
The scheme, launched last month, works by using the combined buying power of residents from the borough and across the country to negotiate cheaper prices with energy companies.
Hundreds of families saved an average of £72 a year on their bills in the first scheme, which started in April. The more people who express an interest, the more likely better tariffs will be achieved. The deadline to register is February 17. People can also visit the Council’s One Stop Shop on Beckhampton Street or call: (01793) 445500.
