People have their chance to comment on a strategy to enhance Swindon’s library service and make it more sustainable.

Swindon Council has opened a consultation on its draft library strategy and wants to hear the views of anyone interested in libraries.

This revised strategy will build on the current strategy, which has seen about 200 volunteers and six friends’ groups working with libraries across the borough – looking at financial challenges and the role libraries play in local communities.

Members of the public are asked to tell the council what libraries mean to them and how the library service should be delivered in future.

The draft strategy can be viewed at and the consultation is until 5pm on Monday, April 14. People can email views to or write to Coun Keith Williams, Library Strategy Consultation, Cabinet Office, Civic Offices, Euclid Street.

An online questionnaire will be available at next week.
