GALE-force winds blew down an 8ft-high breezeblock wall in Rodbourne Cheney – smashing two cars’ windscreens and causing further damage to their headlights and bonnets.
Members of the Rodbourne Cheney Working Men’s Club left the venue at 10.45pm on Friday, February 14, to find the car park wall had collapsed littering the road with debris.
Blocks of concrete had fallen on a van and a car shattering windscreens, scratching headlights and denting bonnets.
Clive Welch, 59, of Penhill, spoke of his shock at finding his Vauxhall Combo van in a dreadful state.
The postman for Zurich said: “If anybody had been stood outside when it came down, I don’t know what would have happened. I was so upset. That van is my life. I use it to go to work and for fishing.”
