HOUSEBUILDER Taylor Wimpey has donated high-visibility slap bands to children at Wanborough Primary School to help keep them safe on their walk to school.
The donation was part of a Walk to School initiative designed to encourage children and parents to make walking to school part of their daily routine.
Taylor Wimpey, which is building new homes at Wanborough Gardens, gave the school 200 fluorescent slap bands for the children to make them more visible to drivers on their journeys each day.
Darren McCormack, regional sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey, said: “We are committed to supporting the communities in which we build our new homes, and this donation is an excellent example of the way we can help schools and other local organisations.
“Nowadays there is a real concern about the amount of time children spend outside being active, and walking to school is an ideal way to help them get more exercise – but it’s important that they can be seen clearly by motorists.
“We hope our high-visibility slap bands will help keep the children safe during the darker winter months and encourage them to walk to school more regularly. More children walking will also help minimise the number of cars on the road at the beginning and end of the school day.”
