NEXT in the Adver’s Hotseat is Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service’s Chief Fire Officer Simon Routh-Jones.
Simon has been Chief Fire Officer of Wiltshire since June 2011, although he became interim CFO in April of that year following his predecessor’s retirement.
He has spent his entire fire service career in Wiltshire, working his way up through the ranks. Over the years, he has served at a number of stations, including Westlea, and has held a number of references, including Assistant Chief Officer and Deputy Chief Officer.
The service is facing unprecedented change, with the Fire Authority due to decide in September whether to combine with Dorset. If approved, the new combined Authority and single service will come into being in April 2016.
