EIGHT weeks of repair work to the embankment of the M4 will start on October 6.
During the work, taking place on the westbound carriageway between Mill Lane and junction 16, the traffic will flow on three narrow lanes and the hard shoulder will be closed.
A temporary 50mph speed limit will be in place for the safety of drivers and the workforce.
Thomas Davies, Highways Agency project sponsor, said: “This important safety work will secure the embankment and improve drainage for years to come. By maintaining three lanes during the day-time there is likely to be minimal inconvenience to road users.”
Before the work on the three mile stretch begins there will be overnight road surface repairs on Friday.
