My Life by Phoebe Maddison
This is a charity single in aid of JDRF, that is working to find a cure for diabetes, and young Phoebe from Swindon is hoping it will be the dark horse for this year’s Christmas number one.
My Life could easily be a soundtrack song from a Disney film with a poignant and touching story.
Phoebe has a pretty voice and sings her strong message with passion and clarity. She is only 10 years old, yet she has such focus, and a true grit spirit, which seeps through her vocals.
There is some lovely rocky guitar backing that lifts the song, yet does not overwhelm her silvery voice. The number is written by Steve Paxton, and produced by Jack Fletcher.
Phoebe has Type 1 diabetes and she says that the words of the song encourage all those who are diabetic to express themselves. Its catchy chorus and hard-hitting words arrow in on the struggles facing young people living with diabetes.
My Life is available to download from iTunes for £3. - Flicky Harrison
